Refining Gastronomy: Porcelain, light, and the new chapter of The Jane

After eleven years in the former chapel, two-star Michelin restaurant The Jane wrote a bold new chapter by moving to the historic Montevideo Residence on Het Eilandje.
As the restaurant embraced these raw, maritime surroundings and open architectural layout, Chef Nick Bril reached out to our atelier. He wanted to focus on handmade, local craftsmanship for this exciting new era. That was the start of an intense journey that lasted several months.
Together with Nick, we set out to design and produce a completely new, bespoke tableware collection from scratch. Every single piece was shaped, glazed, and finished entirely by hand in my atelier. We chose to create a collection that radiates pure craftsmanship, finesse, and tactility, while still offering the durability required for a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen.

“We chose to create a collection that radiates pure craftsmanship, finesse, and tactility, while still offering the durability required for a fast-paced kitchen.”
The collection was crafted to form a direct link with the new interior designed by Brussels architect Nicolas Schuybroek. The hand-thrown porcelain absorbs the light in a soft, subtle way, seamlessly blending into the space and offering a serene, artisanal backdrop on the table that lets the dishes truly speak for themselves.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute my handwork to such an iconic project. Crafting this collection alongside Nick and his team was an incredibly inspiring collaboration from start to finish.
Thank you.
