After returning to Belgium from Sicily and settling in the heart of Brussels, visionary chef Kobe Desramaults opened Eliane, an intimate, raw, and highly personal restaurant named as a tribute to his grandmother.

Housed in the historic former PIAS building, the space revolves around open-fire cooking, honest ingredients, and a pure, uncompromised approach to gastronomy.

My history with Kobe goes back a long way. Before starting my own studio, I worked with him at De Superette and later at Chambre Séparée.

In fact, my entire journey with tableware began right there, in the back office of Chambre Séparée, where I set up my very first small atelier and spent my weekends crafting clay. Designing the tableware for Eliane felt like coming full circle.

This project was also a major personal milestone: it was the very first porcelain project I ever created. To bridge Kobe’s elemental cooking style with high refinement, we crafted a collection rooted in deliberate contrasts. We combined soft grey stoneware, fine porcelain, and a highly natural, heavy chamotte clay glazed with wood ashes from Wijndomein Optimbulles.

Drawing inspiration from Kobe’s love for Japan and the art of kintsugi, we even added delicate touches of gold, allowing the tableware to transition seamlessly from deeply earthy to extraordinarily refined.

Creating this collection for Eliane was a truly special and deeply rewarding experience. Every piece was hand-thrown, glazed, and finished entirely in my atelier.

I am immensely grateful for Kobe’s trust over the years and for the opportunity to contribute my handwork to such a soulful and visionary project.

Thank you.
